The Story behind the "The 50 & 100 Tonner's"

I started working with Stuart In 1997,at the Bradford Bulls Rugby League Club, as Head strength & conditioning coach. The coaching staff spotted massive natural physical talent in this young player. He needed to develop his skill, but what he did have was great natural hunger for success, & most importantly an ability to work extremely hard in training.

We were very lucky at that time, as we had another talented young player at the club in Jamie Peacock. Jamie was similar to Stuart in the fact that he was physically under developed, but had a fantastic work ethic in training & a great desire to achieve.

During the 1997 off season Matthew Elliott the head coach at that time, encouraged me to take Stuart & Jamie out of main stream training & treat them both as projects. The story about Project X & Y, has become a form of banter over the years, especially when I speak to them today. But believe me the training that these two young players endured, was extreme,& no laughing matter.

Looking back over my 11 years as a  Head Strength & Conditioning Coach, I would struggle to find teenage athletes that managed to train as hard, & improve physically in such a dramatic way as Stuart, & Jamie.

Over the past 10 years both these players have achieved the highest accolades the sport has had to offer. The one thing that is there for everyone to see is the corner stone of their success, which is their physical prowess, & toughness. I believe these traits were developed during those early years in the gym, far away from the bright lights.

I recently looked back on my 1997 - 1998 training files, & it was obvious why they packed on so much muscle, strength, power, & fitness in such a short period of time.

I intend to share some of these legendary routines, with my web site customers, over the next few months.

I would like to introduce to you, the two fundamental routines which built the foundation of their muscular mass development, functional Strength, & Muscular endurance.
